“AMS Landscape Design Studios can not be defined by a single landscape style. My job is to understand how my clients want to live and create a partnership with them. This partnership, and excellent communication, ensures that the design and all related components and spaces are customized for the client down to the last square inch. My design is not truly complete until the last stone, plant, or garden feature is in place and my client is happy.” Drew Sivgals
At AMS we create outdoor environments that express, in every detail, the homeowner’s visual sensibilities, culture, taste and lifestyle. Every nuance – from the shadow cast by a tree to the sound of water moving through a stone stream bed – is considered. Every visual and atmospheric detail is critical. By entering into a “design partnership” with his clients, Drew elicits their ideas and dreams for indoor and outdoor living.
“The more I understand how my clients want to live, as well as the materials and style of their home, the more I can bring that same expression into their landscape. In the end, the interior and exterior complement each other. We create various ‘rooms’ outside so that the entire environment is one cohesive element. The homeowners end up wanting to spend as much time outdoors as in.” Drew Sivgals
Landscape Design should be influenced by nature and natural processes and use, as mush as possible, natural products for its design. AMS Landscape Design Studios’ design sensibilitiesand influences come from many different places and time periods. Good landscape design should understand its history to provide authenticity and reveal those ‘design secrets’ that previous designers have discovered. There are two architects of the past, Frank Lloyd Wright and Antonio Gaudi, who have guided the AMS design philosophy. Both looked to nature as their role model, being extremely passionate about creating living environments for people, while using science and related design fields to improve upon existing or conventional ideas. Thus, we use past ideas where needed, but also look to future trends and to other design fields for innovating and creative ideas. At AMS, we understand how a conceptual vision translates into the reality of construction.
“I do not strongly impose my vision on the house or the owner. Rather, my innovative and sound ideas, along with construction knowledge help the homeowners get what they want…help them to express, to imagine and, ultimately, to have the home and landscape design of their dreams.” Drew Sivgals
